During these times, it is no surprise that most of us are not getting outdoors enough. This might not seem like a big deal, but it may be preventing us from receiving the necessary physical and mental health benefits that getting in the outdoors provides.

We all know that exercise is good for us. According to the Harvard Health Letter, sunlight tends to elevate our mood, leaving us more relaxed and cheerful.

In their own words, “If you make getting outside a goal, that should mean less time in front of a television or computer and more time…doing other things that put the body in motion.”

Committing to being outside more will not only contribute positively to your health – it will also reduce the negative effects of technology overuse.

However, that is not all the outdoors has to offer. You may have heard that direct sunlight allows our bodies to absorb vitamin D. This is true, but what does it do for us? According to a study by the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, vitamin D is important for our bone health, immune system and even has anti-inflammatory properties. Those are some serious benefits!
