Outdoor Adventure Trips are designed to give Long Beach State students fun and unforgettable experiences at various must-see destinations in the greater Southern California area. Activities include, but are not limited to, hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, surfing and paddleboarding.
Food, equipment and transportation are provided for all trips at no additional cost. Mandatory pre-trip meetings are required for all Overnight Trips.

Joshua Tree Camp & Hike
Spend the weekend hiking around Joshua trees, unique geologic features, and remnants of past mining and ranching operations. Then enjoy the evening relaxing, eating a hot meal, and taking in the starry desert night sky. Wake up and do it all again. Hikes are all rated as easy-moderate. Food, transportation, and equipment will be provided.

Naples Paddleboarding
Glide through the calm waters of Naples Canals on a stand-up paddleboard! This beginner-friendly trip is a relaxing way to enjoy the sun and beautiful Long Beach scenery. Food, transportation, and equipment will be provided. *Must be able to swim to attend.

Bolsa Chica Surfing
Have you ever wanted to try surfing? Join us for a day along a part of the world famous 10-mile “Surf City USA” coastline! There will be basic surf instruction in the morning and an afternoon of catching waves and riding tides. Wetsuits, boards, food and transportation will be provided. *Must be able to swim to attend.

Malibu Overlook Hike
Take a hike with us on a trail to the Parker-Mesa Overlook in Malibu. The trail passes through beautiful oaks and wildflowers and ends with a breathtaking view of the canyons, ocean, and even Catalina Island. The hike is 7 miles and is rated as moderate difficulty. Lunch and transportation will be provided.

Strawberry Peak Hike
Bust out those hiking boots and enjoy the 7.5 mile trek to Strawberry Peak, the highest peak in the San Gabriel's front range. The views from the summit are totally worth the workout! Food and transportation will be provided.

Sturdevant Falls Backpacking
Join us for an overnight adventure into the heart of the San Gabriel Mountains on a trail leading to one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the greater Los Angeles area. Continuing on through shaded oaks and alder forest along the Big Santa Anita Creek to Spruce Grove Campground. Food, transportation, and equipment will be provided.
