Spin & Give Banner

Fall has arrived, and the SRWC is in the spirit of giving!

During the month of November, the SRWC has been hosting various Fall into Giving events, a series of programs that encourages students to donate canned food throughout the month that will later be donated to the campus interfaith food pantry.

A large part of going to college is learning about different communities and gaining a new perspective on life. The SRWC VIP Program provides this opportunity in a noteworthy, enjoyable way.

Recreation Center

The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) will have snacks and chair massages offered to all students during finals week in the SRWC lobby. Also, all students who are enrolled in the fall 2014 semester have access to the SRWC until Sunday, Jan. 18.

The SRWC will remain open during winter intersession from Saturday, Dec. 20 to Sunday, Jan. 18. SRWC finals week and winter hours are below:

Condition for Tuition Banner

On Thursday, May 7, more than 100 students lined up outside the doors of the SRWC, waiting to celebrate the Owen’s Condition for Tuition (OCFT) finale event. The event was located in the Multi-Activity Court (MAC) where students could enjoy food; win free blender bottles by jumping on the Plyo Soft Box, climbing the inflatable rope ladders and playing human foosball.

Spin and Give

The 3rd Annual Spin and Give Spin-a-thon is on Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spin Zone area of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC).

Participants can spin for 1-3 hours, but anyone who donates 5 cans of food and spins for at least one hour is entered into the opportunity drawing specifically for a 3G bike.

For the past two years the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) has hosted the SRWC Triathlon. Yet, when the swimming portion intimidated many of the participants the SRWC decided to try something different, a Duathalon.

Did you know that Sturtevant Falls crosses the Big Santa Anita Canyon and is one of the finest waterfalls in the Angeles National Forest? Well, Saturday, Dec. 6, is your chance to see this 50 ft. waterfall in person.

Mile High

From January 20 to May 15 there will be a Mile High Challenge at the Rock Wall. Students will get the opportunity to climb the Rock Wall 211 times by the end of the spring semester and get a free t-shirt to prove they did it!
