As the end of the semester draws near, it’s important to be aware of your chance to claim one of Long Beach State University (LBSU)’s most honored prizes by the end of spring semester! For the 15th anniversary, the Owen’s Condition for Tuition (OCFT) is back to gift one lucky student FREE undergraduate tuition for the next fall semester. This scholarship program is designed to encourage health and wellness in our students, staff and community! To add to the excitement, this year we are giving away additional prizes throughout the challenge like half-way prizes, finisher prizes for completing, and of course, the final opportunity drawing to win that infamous FREE tuition. So, how do you receive these exclusive opportunities? Don’t worry, there’s still time to figure it out, win LBSU swag and get your name in that opportunity drawing bucket!

OCFT is a wellness scholarship program hosted every year at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC). This scholarship program was implemented to showcase the importance of health and wellness and get students even more excited to enter our beloved SRWC.

Here’s how it works: After spending at least 30 minutes working out or completing a wellness-related activity, students can scan out at the scanner by the front desk. Students start at 50 points when they sign up and for every visit they go down a point. Once you hit zero, you’re automatically entered into the opportunity drawing. But that’s not all, as previously mentioned, this year we have cool new halfway and finisher prizes. When students hit 25 points, they can claim their halfway prize of either a beach towel or lunch pail. For the first 300 students who hit zero, they can claim a massage gun for their finisher prize! If you’re into yoga, ask for the exclusive yoga mat for your prize instead!

This challenge kicks off the first day of each fall semester and runs until the end of April. When we reach the end of the spring semester, the SRWC puts on a celebration with food, games and prizes for all students who participated. The overall goal of the OCFT scholarship program is to reward and encourage students to create healthy habits and get students excited about being here at The Beach!

This program is all about giving and growing—that’s why we’re aiming big to reach 5,500 participants. Haven’t signed up yet? There’s still time—stop by the SRWC front desk and start earning points today!
