Inclusive Fitness Events

Get a glimpse into the world of inclusive recreation! The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) hosts various inclusive events for all members to try throughout the semester.

Inclusive fitness is recreation that is accessible to all individuals regardless of ability. It provides the opportunity to exercise, move and play together. At the SRWC we have various inclusive fitness programs and events to make health and wellness available for all communities.

This fall, the inclusive department is hosting the Inclusive Sports Expo. Join us on Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. in the main gym and try out an assortment of inclusive fitness activities! It will feature wheelchair basketball, wheelchair badminton, goalball and sit-down volleyball. SRWC members will also have the opportunity to rock climb using an extended belay bar. Participate in activities and be entered into an opportunity drawing for prizes!

Unable to drop by the event? Join the SRWC Rock Wall for dark climbs on Oct. 14 and Nov. 18! At dark climbs participants are blindfolded and are timed as they climb the Rock Wall. Participants are paired in teams of two; one climbing and the other acting as a guide. For the team’s time to count, the climber must reach the top of the rock wall. Each duo gets two tries to complete the course. The pair with the fastest time will win a prize!

Finally, our last inclusive event is sit-down volleyball on Oct. 21, at 5 p.m., in the SRWC MAC Gym. All events are held at the SRWC and are free for members. For more information and to register, visit asirecreation.org/inclusive, or talk with us at the Intramurals desk!
