Have a jolly good time trying out the Rock and Outdoor adventure's favorite mini-challenges. Compete against your peers in trials of speed, strength, endurance and problem-solving. Prizes awarded to the top challengers!

Sale items include tents, sleeping bags, chairs, stretching mats, balls, and many other good finds.

  • When: Tuesday, October 15
  • Time: 8AM - 1PM
  • Location: In front of the SRWC

  • For participants to gain credit for their “climbs”, they’ll need to participate in one of our 3 virtual challenges and log their points using the link above.
    • Participants may submit a photo of a tied rock-climbing knot: (3 points)
      • Participants may tie any of the following knots: Figure-8, Figure-8 follow-through, Bowline, Double-Bowline, Clove Hitch, Figure-8 on a bight, Double Overhand, Double Fishermans. Girth Hitch, Square knot.
      • Participants may use any online resources for information on tying these knots
      • Participants may NOT submit a photo of a given knot more than once.
      • Tip: If you don’t have a rope, you can also use a charging cable, cord, yarn, or shoelace. Get creative!
    • Participants may submit a video demonstrating how to tie any of the previously listed knots (10 points)
      • Video must NOT be longer than 30 seconds in length.
      • Participants may NOT submit a video of a given knot more than once.
    • Participants may submit a video of them participating in the ROA Climbing Exercise Circuit (15 points)
      • Video must NOT be longer than 30 seconds in length
      • Participants may be awarded the full 15 points for every round of the circuit they complete.
  • Participants who began their Mile High Challenge sheet in person at the SRWC will still be awarded credit for all prior completions of climbs.
  • Point standings will be emailed every 2 weeks to those who opt in. Simply enter your email address when logging your points.

Join us at the SRWC and take the ultimate challenge! Any member that registers and completes all three of our land, sea, and air challenges: Swim Into Shape (at the Aquatics Center), Mile High (Rockwall), and 150 Dare (Facility wide) will earn three t-shirts and a medal for their hard work!

We have a variety of Rock Wall classes available during the spring semester for the beginner, all the way to the expert. Choose the one that fits your needs the best! 1:00pm-3:00pm Fridays - Belay Basics: 8/31, 9/7, 9/14, 10/5, 10/26, and 11/30 - Movement & Technique: 9/21, 10/12, and 11/2 - Learn to Lead: 9/28, 10/19, 11/9, 12/7 Custom/Advanced Climbing Classes available any day upon request for $17.00 students on technique and enhance their skills. So now is the time to add the Rock Wall to your bucket list!

Whether you’re a trained athelete or a busy college student trying to eat better, our “Mission for Nutrition” program is right for you!

  • Belay Basics: Learn basic technical skills for top rope belaying, drop into any class to get started.

  • Learn to Lead: Learn to lead belay and lead climb in an indoor setting

  • Climbing 101: Learn proper footwork, body positioning techniques, and energy-conserving tips to become an even better climber.

Crank up the fun on Friday nights at the rock wall. Join us for Twister, Add-on, Ninja Ball, Noodle Labyrinth, and tons of other wild games every Friday night in November.

Put your communication and climbing skills to the test in a blind folded climbing challenge. Bring a partner or find one when you get there. In collaboration with inclusive recreation.

Become the ultimate belayer in our Belay a Mile Challenge! The Rock Wall at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) has 211 different climbing routes for you to try out. Challenge your friends and reach new heights for an opportunity to win an awesome prize! Participants must be belay-certified through the SRWC Rock Wall to compete.
