Owen's Participant Spotlight - Ellen Moody

If you’re struggling to kick the bad habits that can come with our socially distant reality, you’re not alone. But if you’re anything like Ellen Moody, the Owen’s Condition for Tuition challenge might have the cure.

“I was worried about keeping up with my workouts when everything started closing,” Ellen said. “But the Owen’s challenge has really helped me stay motivated since quarantine started.”

Owen’s Condition for Tuition is a yearly challenge that rewards participants with prizes for accomplishing 50 workouts throughout the school year. While many participants win something, one lucky winner will win free tuition for a semester!

To log workouts, all you need to do is submit your name, student ID and a photo of you completing your 30-minute workout. In Ellen’s case, entering her daily workouts from home took the place of her usual Rugby games or jogs near her old dorm, Parkside College.

“I really appreciate how easy it is to fill out the form,” Ellen said. “I usually lift weights or jog, and knowing I’m earning a point for Owen’s really keeps me going!”

Whether you’re looking for a source of consistent motivation, or you’re looking to convert your energy into a chance for free tuition, Owen’s Condition for Tuition is a fantastic challenge for all students to take part in.

“While the [Student Recreation & Wellness Center] is closed, I really appreciate the ways they’ve adapted during the pandemic,” Ellen said. “Owen’s is one of the best ways to avoid falling into the trap of quarantine laziness!”
