Outdoor Adventure Trips give Long Beach State students the opportunity to experience must-see destinations throughout Southern California through hiking, camping, backpacking, surfing, paddleboarding, bouldering and more.
Whether you're an experienced adventurer or trying an activity for the first time, there’s a trip for you. Food, equipment and transportation are provided for all trips.
Registration is available at the SRWC Rock Wall or through the FusionGo app.
Please note: Mandatory pre-trip meetings are required for all overnight trips. Participants must be able to swim for paddleboarding and surfing trips.
Spend the weekend exploring Joshua Tree’s iconic desert landscape, from its namesake trees and unique geological features to remnants of the area’s mining and ranching history. After a day of hiking, settle in for a hot meal under the desert’s starry night sky. Food, transportation and equipment are provided.
Glide through the calm waters of the Naples Canals on a stand-up paddleboard. This beginner-friendly trip offers a relaxing way to enjoy the sun and Long Beach scenery from the water. Food, transportation and equipment are provided.

Ready to catch a wave? Spend the day along the famous Surf City USA coastline with basic surf instruction in the morning followed by an afternoon of catching waves and practicing your new skills. Wetsuits, surfboards, food and transportation are provided.

Hike to the Parker Mesa Overlook in Malibu for sweeping views of the canyons, Pacific Ocean and, on a clear day, Catalina Island. This 7-mile hike passes through beautiful coastal scenery before reaching its breathtaking overlook. Lunch and transportation are provided.
Lace up your hiking boots for a 7.5-mile trek to Strawberry Peak, the highest point in the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains. Take on the climb and enjoy incredible views from the summit. Food and transportation are provided.
Escape the campus rush and reconnect with yourself and nature. Guided by the Beach Balance wellness team, this coastal retreat is designed to help you quiet your mind, reduce stress and recharge in the outdoors.
Head into the San Gabriel Mountains for an overnight backpacking adventure featuring one of the greater Los Angeles area's most scenic waterfalls. Continue through shaded oak and alder forests along Big Santa Anita Creek before setting up camp at Spruce Grove Campground. Food, transportation and equipment are provided.
Spend the day climbing the iconic sandstone boulders of Stoney Point. Whether you're new to bouldering or already have climbing experience, this trip welcomes all skill levels. Food, transportation and equipment are provided.
