Beach Balance

Fall 2016 Powerlifting Competition Series

Join us to compete for a chance to become the 2016 Powerlifting Champion!
Overall male and female champions along with individual weight class winners will be awarded for each lift. All overall winners will receive a trophy and prizes will also be awarded to the winners of individual weight classes.

Overall Rules & Information:

  1. Only members of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center will be allowed to compete in the contest.
  2. The Overall Powerlifting Champion* will be the male and female with the highest pound for pound average percentage from all three competitions.
  3. Overall bench, deadlift and squat winners will be determined by the male and female with the highest pound for pound percentage for the specific lift. Weight class winners will be determined by the male who lifts the heaviest weight in their division.
  4. Divisions of the weight classes are listed in the rules for each individual event listed below.

*You must participate in all three events to be considered for the powerlifting champion award.

Beach Balance, with support from Student Health Services, Bob Murphy Access Center, and Counseling and Psychological Services, aims to promote personal well-being, from a holistic approach, by empowering members of the Long Beach State University (LBSU) community to make healthy lifestyle choices.  Various educational opportunities are offered through Beach Balance, including programs about nutrition, stress management, biofeedback, and overall health education. 

Beach Balance has two locations on campus, they are in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC room 203C) and the University Student Union (USU 313). 

SRWC location services: 

  • Massage therapy 
  • Nutrition counseling 
  • Weekly events 

USU location services: 

  • Relaxonchair (full body massage chairs) 
  • Relaxation Station: health and wellness reading materials, art therapy, lounge chairs 
  • Weekly events
