Exercise is crucial for our mental and physical health, especially as college students with busy schedules. And it is one of the best ways to relieve stress from long, strenuous hours of going to class and studying. Physical activity helps our bodies release endorphins, which can alleviate stress and boost your overall mood.

Other than stress relief, incorporating exercise into your daily routines may improve your academic performance. Working out between classes or study sessions can improve focus, problem solving skills and information retention, which are crucial for your academic success. It also promotes better sleep to energize you for the rest of the day. No need for coffee or an energy drink!

Physical activity does not have to be crazy, like powerlifting or running a 5k every day. It can be quite difficult to find time to exercise as a college student, so it could be as simple as taking a brisk walk around our campus for 30 minutes each day.

Don’t know where to start? Check out group fitness classes offered at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) during the semester. We offer spin classes, yoga sessions and cardio group workouts every week. Check them out by yourself or bring some friends along!
