  1. Take a stretch break every hour or two

Taking breaks are key when it comes to de-stressing from the moment. Take a few minutes every hour or two to get up from your studying spot to stretch your limbs, take a walk around the room or even dance it out to your favorite song. As long as you get up and moving, it counts!

  2. Switch up studying locations

Feel like you’ve been sitting in the same spot for hours? Try switching up where you are studying to increase your productivity. A change of scenery can help reset your mind so you can get back to studying feeling refreshed. Need suggestions? Try the After Hours Study Center in the USU, by the pool at the SRWC or in the library while it’s open for 24 hours during finals week!

  3. Take a 20-minute nap

Getting sleep during finals week is like trying to get the university to change our mascot to a squirrel -- it probably won’t happen. If you’re not getting a full six to eight hours of sleep per night, try reclaiming some of that time by taking a quick 20 minute nap during the day. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to ace that exam!

  4. Exercise

Get your mind off impending deadlines and get your body moving! Exercising is one of the best ways to de-stress during finals week. Stop by the SRWC during finals week and take a group fitness class, swim a couple of laps or lift a few weights on the first floor. Whatever you do, just get moving!

  5. Attend ASI’s Final’s Week in the USU and SRWC

ASI is dedicated to the wellbeing of Long Beach State students during finals week, so make sure to check out all the events and activities we provide. From Dec. 13 to 19 in the USU and SRWC we will have a series of things to do get you in the right mindset.
